So, how about making a native iPad app to access G+? The iPhone compatible app and the website version for Safari just aren't cutting it. Need something far more robust.

I think one of the other huge shifts is that given the choice in media vehicles and media angles, more and more consumers are choosing news that "agrees with them." In addition, a growing number of news outlets are mixing editorial and news. The mix of those two trends means that fewer of us are receiving anything that instructs us or challenges our beliefs. Facts are less important than they used to be, and we start to think of "news" as reading, watching or listening to talking heads who basically echo our own sets of beliefs. This is comforting, but presents a great danger when it comes to making decisions as communities or countries.

If we support journalism that espouses our views rather than supporting sources that strive to get the facts right and leave the interpretation to us, we more easily fall into polarized positions where "facts" don't agree, and hence we cannot agree either.

Check out Free Press (www.freepress.net), a great organization that understand how reforming media could transform our democracy: "A strong democracy depends on media that inform and engage. Free Press is building a nationwide movement for media that serve the public interest. Through education, organizing and advocacy, Free Press promotes diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, hard-hitting journalism and universal access to communications."

With messaging or branding, if an objective is truly clear, simplicity should be easy to apply in getting there. However, the true challenge lies in keeping that simple message and experience consistent - that part requires planning and in turn is the hard part.

I agree, Justin, and yet we each have areas where we experience tremendous resistance, no matter how good our intentions. <a href="http://www.stevenpressfield.com/" rel="nofollow">Steven Pressfield</a> personifies resistance in his book "<a href="http://www.stevenpressfield.com/the-war-of-art/" rel="nofollow">The War of Art</a>," a book I've read many times, given to numerous friends and colleagues, and which still helps give me the motivational "kick in the ass" I sometimes require.

We too are in the thick of college...one on his way out and another on her way in. I believe the only way to get immediate value from a liberal arts education is to tie course work to work outside the classroom. Kids who graduate without real-world experience on their resumes are operating at a deficit, no matter how brilliant their academic careers were. Greater partnerships between businesses and colleges are essential. And instruction in entrepreneurship is critical as well. Many of these students may have to make their own opportunities.
